On October 1st, 2005 most of our members were peer trained certified by the Amputee Coalition of America. To start the course we took a pre-test to test our knowledge on our peer training. We then were taught correct procedures and skills to do a peer visit successfully. After, this we did some role playing with different scenarios which we may encounter. After this was complete we then all took a final comprehensive test of what we had learned. We all passed!!!! The ACA now can call on any member of our group that became certified to go peer visit an amputee in a hospital, home, and other settings. We would like to thank the ACA and the wonderful ladies who trained us for their help! |
